Before I participated in the Delmarva Photo Summit at Assateague Island a few weeks ago, I had never really given thought to abstract photography. I didn’t even know what it was. Sure, I could look at a photo and say, “that’s an abstract,” but that was the extent of it. After spending a sunrise and morning shoot learning and taking photos in the abstract, this has become my latest love.
I love this art form so much that I have created a new blog page that just includes abstracts I have taken. I already know that I am going to be taking a lot of new photos using my newly learned techniques. The above photo is an Assateague Beach sunrise taken on the Virginia side of the Island.
The photo below was taken using a little zoom lens magic. I am looking down on trees while at the top of Assateague Light. All of the abstracts were created using the camera not by post processing. That is what is so fun about these photos. It is not just point and shoot!
While the below photo is less abstract than the one of the autumn colors. the motion emphasized is an effect that makes the photo a little more artsy.
Rather than going on and on about my new favorite thing, let me show you some results. Please click on the tab at the top of the page entitled “Photography in Abstract” to view more abstracts. Most of these photos are not for sale yet as I am continuing to evaluate them so please give me your thoughts.
This Sunday is my Gallery Reception. I hope you can make it. If not, I am sure someone will be taking photos of the event, not me though!
The below photo recently won Photo of the Day over at Capture Maryland.
And as always, thank you for supporting my work.
