While both of the photos on my home page are close-ups, can you see the difference with using a macro lens? Do not feel bad if you can’t. I, and other more experienced photographers, sometimes cannot either. It is a matter of degrees. “Water Droplets” is a good example of the difference. The details here would be difficult to get with a zoom lens at quite the size you see here.
