When it gets colder, I really have to work at finding places to photograph. The black and white of winter makes it easy to create photos sans the color. The photos in this blog though were not taken in the cold short days of winter.
These are Autumn shots!
Some of these shots, I fell in love with as soon as I saw the scenes. I just could not let them go, but they did not look good in color.
Sometimes the light was too harsh, and it washed out the color. Sometimes the color was just not great.
So these are the results of photos that did not make the Autumn color cut. Many other photos were not so lucky, they are in the digital trash bin.
The photo of the corn below reminded me of “The Grapes of Wrath”. I only saw the Praying Mantis when it was up on my screen. I do not know if anyone would put this photo on their wall, but it sure is compelling to me.
Someone once asked if I had any acorn shots. Well, this year, I did photograph some. I only liked the one above, and only in monotone. I am hoping that works.
The last photo was an experiment for me. I was using a 10 stop neutral density filter. I learned how to use it by reading articles and watching videos. But I made a few mistakes which made the color photos look bad. I hope I salvaged the scene by creating it in black and white.
