Best Laid Plans…

Rippling

Rippling

I had been looking forward to Florida for several months. Visiting each parent on each coast, warm weather and lots of photo opportunities. KI and I had been a little under the weather in December. Actually KI was pretty sick, but I managed to steer clear of anything until the week I was set to go to Florida. But I travelled anyway, determined to fight back whatever I had and enjoy my octogenarian parents and all that sunny Florida had to offer.

After several days of photographing Rookery Bay, Corkscrew Swamp and other delightful new venues for me, I gave in and went to Urgent Care. The result was 7 days of rest, antibiotics and no more photographing. I did watch lots of On Demand movies. But Florida photos will have to wait another year for me.

I did manage to capture a beautiful sunset on Rookery Bay as shown above. Corkscrew also provided some great wildlife opportunities up close.

The shot “Rippling” is gorgeous! I love your flamingo and gator too. Glad to hear that you’re back on your feet. I’m just getting back on my feet after a 2 week epic flu experience. ( I got my annual flu shot at the 50 + expo, but it proved ineffective.) I also went to Urgent Care as my temp hit 103 and my doc didn’t have office hrs on Sat. Anyway, Here’s hoping we are both on the mend!

I’ve been hoping to see the results of your visit to Corkscrew and am sorry that illness interrupted your time there. Hope you had good times with your family before The Bug got you. At the moment, I’m fighting with bronchitis myself – not fun as you know. Anyhow, these four photographs are beautiful; I epecially like the alligator with its reflection. I’m glad that you felt well enough then to make it to the “Lettuce Lake” and beyond. — Now, I don’t know about the Florida Flamingo!!; was it at the tropical/botanical zoo in Naples? — I lived for 11 years on Marco Island, and then in Naples, so your pictures have brought back many wonderful memories. (Sorry to read about Jan’s Epic Flu Experience. Seems that there’s a lot of stuff in the air this winter.)

      • Charlotte, I will be visiting Corkscrew again. The alligator and another shot of a Blue Heron under Recent Photos was shot there. I actually got lots of shots including some of birds I had never seen before. That place is amazing! I would not have gone on the Boardwalk after my Swamp Buggy tour without your recommendation because I was feeling lousy. Took the short loop.
The Flamingo was at Lion Country Safari-an interesting place.

Other shots are of Rookery Bay including the Osprey and sunset.

I hope you feel better soon. It has been a tough winter and thanks for reading my blog!
