Doors and Windows

I seem to have a fascination with doors and windows especially historic ones. I like the symmetry and the angles. I enjoy the repeating patterns too.

But there’s something else too. I think they look inviting-like I could knock on the door and someone from our past would open it and invite me in for a respite.

Is it just me or do you too like doors and windows? We get many phrases from the two words-“window to my soul” or “open doors to the future”.

These architectural features actually say a lot about us, but most times we think of them for purely utilitarian purposes.

I hope I have given you something to think about with this post.

BTW The historic photos are Washington’s Headquarters at Brandywine during the Revolutionary War.

“Gothic Entry” is the front of the National Cathedral in DC.
