When visiting my Dad, I always spend time at the Naples Botanical Garden which is less than a mile from his home.
I have a set routine. I walk the mile plus out to the wetlands first thing in the early AM to catch the waterfowl, and then I work my way inland to the flowers and plants. Usually when I am there, I see orchids galore.
This year I came earlier than I normally do, visiting in October not January-February. I was in for a little surprise though. No orchids or waterfowl. The water was too high for the fishing that the waterfowl do, and not the season for orchids. So I made my way over to the lily pond. In the early months of
winter, the lilies, even in Florida, are at the end of their blooms. Not so in October. Most of my three hour stay was spent photographing away at these beautiful gems.
Enjoy the lilies today!
On another note, I was surprised to wake up on the morning of November 21 to see my photo, The Towpath, featured on the Department of Interior’s Facebook page. What an honor! The C&O Canal National Park also featured it that day.
