What a year! I, like many, have mixed feelings about 2016. I cannot decide whether it was a good year or sucked big time. The last few months were crazy and needed a “do-over.” except for my beloved Cubbies winning the World Series.
I am writing this blog the day after Thanksgiving so I do not know the results of the Electoral College. Maybe the the electors revolted and Hillary Clinton is now our President-Elect! In theory the electoral college is supposed to be fair. In practice it is not working the way the founders intended. And what was good for our small country 240 years ago may need updating now. It is a living Constitution.
I have always tried to keep this blog neutral of my political leanings, but with so much at stake for me and my family, it is difficult.
The accompanying photos were taken in October while visiting my father in southwest Florida. A walk along Keewaydin Beach produced some cool images for me. Who knew what was in store for us at that time! My dad and I were watching the middle games of the World Series. The Cubs were down 3-1 when I flew back to Maryland. A week later they were World Series Champs for the first time in 108 years. The next week was Election day in the US, and our world suddenly changed.
None of us have a Magic 8 ball and obviously the media is terrible at predicting. So we enter 2017 with much unknown and a little more afraid and skeptical of our future. “Dark Skies”, which I took during that walk, could have foreshadowed what was to come less than a two weeks later.
Here’s hoping that all of you have a better 2017 with much love, prosperity and happiness!
